Large Frame German Model 1879 Single Action Reichs ''Cavalry'' Revolver, #6611, 10.55mm CF cal., 7'' round-to-octagonal barrel with cannon-turned ring at muzzle, marked with crown and serial number on two left flats and ''10.55'' on left angled flat; 6-shot fluted cylinder with each bore numbered 1 thru 6, marked ''S&S V.C.S. C.G.H. / Suhl'' within an oval on left frame, swing-down safety lever on left side, most screw heads and external small parts with partial serial numbers. Oval steel buttcap has two proofmarks and 6 ''X''s where original marks were cancelled out and replaced with ''A.M. XXI. 4. 13.''; right grip panel has ''S/7/90/5'' stamped in a vertical row, upside-down. Originally blued finish, hammer and trigger appear left in the white; oil-finished hardwood grips. Condition is good to very good, retaining approx. 50% thinning and darkening original blue with light impact marks on barrel, the balance a smooth brown patina. Grips are very good showing a few expected marks and dings from military use; lanyard ring is present on butt. Action is tight and smooth; bore is shiny with fine rifling. Est.: $750-$1,500. (Antique)
