Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, #29944, .40-65 WCF cal., 26'' octagon barrel, no finish, straight grip wood stock, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight with a blade that looks like it is made of horn, and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Barrel with two-line ''New Haven, Conn. U.S.A.'' address. Upper tang is marked ''-MODEL 1886-''. Mfg'd 1889. Condition is good. Metal is a combination light gray and brown patina. Barrel address, etc. are clear. Front sight blade with a chip to the front corner. Buttstock with an approx. 2'' thin crack at the toe, otherwise wood shows age and wear consistent with the rest of the rifle, including a half dozen 5/8'' circular and semi-circular impressions to the left side of the buttstock. Action is crisp; bore with some minor pitting but is good for its age. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (Antique)
