U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Single Shot Cartridge Infantry Rifle, #356737, .45-70 cal., 32.5'' round barrel, ''Model 1873'' on trapdoor, spread-eagle and ''U.S./Springfield'' on lockplate, ''US'' on buttplate tang. Metal originally finished bright, oil-finished one-piece walnut stock. Condition is fair to good with moderate to heavy toning to metal, rust to triggerguard and tang and occasional heavy pitting to buttplate and barrel. Stock with faint inspector's cartouche opposite lockplate, is solid with dings and losses. Missing ramrod and barrel tang screw.
