Lot 148 Snider Pattern III Conversion Enfield .577
NVSN. Early British military breech loading rifle chambered for the .577 Boxer cartridge manufactured in 1869. Features a blued finish, 30 1/2" steel barrel, fixed blade front sight, flip up ladder rear sight, two barrel bands, steel endcap, cleaning rod, rounded trigger, steel trigger guard, firing pin cap, flat faced hammer, white leather sling, and a smooth walnut straight grip shoulder stock with metal buttplate. Includes an original sword style bayonet with scabbard. Lock is marked '1869/Enfield' and [crown/VR], receiver 'III' and other various military proofs, stock 'DG' inside of a diamond, 'MGA293' and a round cartouche with 'R[crown]M-Enfield/1'. Rifle exhibits approximately 50% of its original finish with a balance of the metal surfaces turned to a dark brown patina. Action is mechanically sound, bore is excellent and the wood stock is very good with several dings. Condition is NRA Fine ***Antique Firearm*** From The John F Sukey Collection
