John Moore painted nearYellowstone and in Wyoming and Montana. He was self-taught and encouraged by Frederic Remington. Born near Ft. Worth, TX his father pioneered the Abilene Trail. He was a real cowboy, Texas Ranger, and Indian scout forGen. Crook. In 1935 he was designated the official cowboy artist of the Lone Star state. John Moore was born 1866 and died 1948.
