^Lot 154 Gray Bartlett Signed "Night Watch" Oil on Canvas

Gray Bartlett (1885-1951) "Night Watch" 24" x 28" oil on canvas. Signed and dated '41, lower right. An important American artist of the west who became a working cowboy and sketched scenes of western life in Colorado. Later in life he had a successful engraving business but at the age of 52 he left Colorado and traveled west to California and other surrounding states, Texas, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico to paint the landscapes and cowboys and rely on his sketches when he was a cowboy. His works are in many important western museums, private collections around the country including the Santa Fe Railway Collection, Arizona State University and the California State Library.
