^Lot 278 Colt 1878 Frontier .44-40 SN: 42154

Engraved large frame double action revolver chambered in .44-40 Winchester, circa 1899. Features a nickel plated refinish, 'C' coverage fine floral scroll engraving. shortened blade front sight, 'v' notched rear sight, ejector rod, fluted six-shot cylinder, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur and two-piece checkered black replacement grips. Revolver retains nearly all it's nickel plated refinish showing only few light handling marks. The markings have been restored and are crisp. Action works properly in double action with solid lock-up but will not function in single action as the hammer will not lock in the cocked position. The bore has dulled showing light rifling & scattered pitting and the reproduction grips are fine. Condition is fine as restored. ***C&R Firearm*** ***Modern Firearm***
