Lot 1518 Mexican Presentation sword with Toledo marked blade etched in the
center panel “Amigran Amigo El General De Brigada, Lazaro Cardenas, Arnulfo R. Gomez, Madrid-1925”. Fancy etched blade with scrolls and Mexican snake and eagle with lion head pommel. Fluted and dyed bone grip. Enamel plaque of Mexican eagle in hilt shows damage also 1 plaque is missing. The blade is almost fine. The scabbard shows crude repair but retains fancy mountings (Can be restored by finding another scabbard and transferring mounts. Cardenas was a general in the Mexican Revolution and was President of Mexico 1934-40, He is known for the creation of Mexico’s oil industry. Gomez was a General from 1924 and modernized the Mexican Army. By the order of President Obregon he was executed Nov. 5, 1927 From a local estate. Est.: $2000-$4000
