^Lot 267 Colt Gatling Gun Plaque Circa 1883

This typical bronze plaque would be affixed to the breech of a barrel housing and would also house the spirit level. The spirit level was used when sighting the gun. 3-5/8" diameter. The entire edge is engraved. There is an oval hole in the center of the plate were the spirit level would rest with two holes above and below. On either side of the oval hole are engraved flourishes. In block letters "GATLING GUN / PATENTED". and on the top and bottom of the plate are larger screw holes on the outside edge. Excellent condition. 3 lbs.
