J. Deane and Sons Side-by-Side Combination Rifle/Shotgun, #20648, 12 ga/.577 3'' (approx.), 30'' barrels, brown finish, checkered walnut stock, sling swivel studs, with British black powder proofs, dovetailed blade front sight and rear ladder sight. Condition is fine. The underlever back action lock has been cleaned of finish but has no corrosion. Barrels retain approx. 90% smooth browned finish with small dents near the breech. Rifle and shotgun barrels are joined by a matted rib with a doll's head fit to the receiver. Hammers and underlever appear to have been cleaned and re-blued. Stock shows some shrinkage but no evidence of sanding or refinishing. Checkering shows some flattening and there is a 1'' line of loss on left side of grip. Action is tight, bores are good with some frosting in the rifle grooves and minor corrosion. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
