Standard Arms Co. Model M Manual Slide Action Rifle, #1238, .30 Rem. cal., 25-1/4'' barrel, blue finish, ornately cast brass forend and buttplate with game scenes and stylized Standard Arms Co. logo, factory rear sight, Lyman white bead front sight, walnut buttstock. Mfg'd in Wilmington, DE, from 1909 to 1914, the first gas-operated rifle in the U.S., and the Model M is hard to find than the Model G. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80% thinning blue. Gas adjustment screw shows damage to head. Walnut stock retains approx. 70% varnish with moderate scuffs and scratches, and thinning and darkening at wrist. Action is good, bore is very good.
