Lot 230 Plains Indian war axe or tomahawk with early
to mid-19th century head showing indistinct makers stamp. The blade measures 4 ¼” across the edge by approximately 8” across. Later long shaft of carved wood with traces of red ochre paint showing lightly and measures 25 ½” from end to end. Brass tack and copper wire at the end with Indian tanned raw hide loop. The head is loose on the shaft but shows old period hide “Gasket” that is deteriorating. A long tomahawk for horse mounted warrior. Est.: $1000-$2000
