Pope barreled Winchester Model 1885 High-Wall Single Shot Rifle, #83891, .32-40 cal., ''H.M. Pope, Hartford, Conn.'' marked 30'' half-round blue barrel of No. 4 weight with false muzzle, single set trigger, dovetail scope mount blocks (no sights), with Pope markings to bottom barrel flat beneath forward handguard; case hardened frame, custom made checkered cheekpiece fancy walnut stock and forend marked L. Amrine. Receiver dates from 1915. Condition is excellent as partially restored. Barrel retains approx. 75%-80% thinning original blue. Frame, lever and hammer have been re-colored. Custom stock and forend are as new. (The false muzzle and starter included with this rifle are not usable as designed. They are for a different rifle.) Action is good, set trigger needs adjustment, bore is near fine. Est.: $1,200-$1,800. (C&R)
