Springfield/Bannerman Bolt Action Rifle, #672842, .30-06 cal., 24'' barrel dated 12-18, blue finish, dual crossbolt, fingergroove walnut M.1903 stock, with 1918 dated M.1907 sling. This hybrid rifle made from 1903 bolt and barreled action uses M.1917 triggerguard, forward barrel band, and Krag rear sight. Bannerman purchased many Krag, Springfield, and P17 parts during the inter-war period. Advertised in early 1930s American rifle magazines, these rifles offered the sportsman a low-cost military rifle alternative. It has now become a unique collector's variation. This rifle was retained by Warner Bros. right after the Pearl Harbor attack in case of an invasion. Our consignor purchased it directly from a retired Warner Bros. employee. Condition is fine with approx. 85%-90% blue. Stock shows light dings with minor oil darkening near metal surfaces. Action is crisp, bore is bright. Sling is in very good condition but shows some fatigue near the frogs. Est.: $50!
