American Mounted Officer's Eaglehead Sword, 31-1/2'' etched blue blade with gold accents showing stylized ''US/of/A'' markings, 37'' overall, with carved bone handle, and silver-plated guard. Leather scabbard with silver-plated brass throat. Sword dates from 1820-1835. Condition is very good. First 1/3 of blade is blued; balance shows moderate toning and light pitting. Silver plate to guard and eaglehead has thinned to approx. 40%. Scabbard with splits and complete loss of stitching; chape is missing. Est.: $1,500-$2,000.
