Victorian Cavalry Saber, marked ''Millar/Armourer/Drill Hall/Dundee'', 23'' blade, 38-1/2'' overall, with wire-wrapped skate handle, gilt brass backstrap, pommel, and handguard, with tooled pierced guard showing Victoria's crown-''VR'' motif. Leather-covered steel scabbard is marked ''Olson & Sons, 1899, London''. Chape and drag are nickel-plated steel. Condition is excellent. Handle shows some thinning to scales but beautiful intricate wire wrap is intact. Some gilt remains in protected areas, but overall the guard has just lightly toned. Brown leather scabbard shows light scuffs, scrapes, and minor discoloration; chape with moderate corrosion. A beautiful late Victorian house Cavalry saber. Est.: $500-$750.
