Gorgeous example of this classic tobacco card, featuring Stahl, who had a 9-yr career during the Deadball Era. In 1912 as player-manager he hit .301 and drove in 60 runs over only 326 at-bats while leading the Red Sox to a World Series Championship. Graded a sharp 5 EX by SGC. T206's in EX or better condition are always in demand. This is 1 of 12, with only 5 graded higher, of the 113 total Stahl Piedmont 150s in the SGC database.

Here's a classic tobacco card, from the 1912 T202 Hassan 'Triple Folder' set. The side panels were folded when packaged in the tobacco product. It's a 3-in-1 design, with the two side panels as single portrait cards, attached to a larger action card in the center. This one is called "Baker Gets His Man", featuring HOFer, Frank "Home Run" Baker, a feared slugger in the Deadball Era who regularly hit .300 or better, while leading the AL in HR's four times, and RBI twice. He was best known for his World Series prowess, hitting .409 in the 1910 series, and .375 the following year when he acquired the nickname by hitting a pair of clutch home runs in the series. The card also features HOFer Eddie Collins, a massive star of the day, who had lengthy 25-year career collecting 3,315 hits, with 741 stolen bases and a lifetime .333 batting average. This example displays deep colors and is graded 2.5 GD+ by SGC.

Unmarked vintage checklists remain some of the best "demand" cards in the hobby, mainly because back in those days people actually marked them up when they acquired cards. Clean ones are always needed by set builders. Here's a nice higher grade unmarked 3rd Series checklist from the popular 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee set. Graded 6 EX-NM by SGC.

High-grade unmarked checklist for the final run of cards in the set. Graded a sharp 8 NM-MT by SGC. Not an easy one to track down, let alone in this grade. SGC, which has graded less cards than PSA, has this as 1 of 2 with none higher (and only 5 total pop). PSA has graded only 10 of these, total, with only 1 graded 8, and 1 higher. The other 2 checklists in the set are more plentiful, as illustrated with PSA showing 136 total between the two. So no matter how you shake it out, this is a low pop, rare card.

Another tough #1, this one featuring Leafs' all-time great HOFer and captain, George Armstrong. The first five cards in each of the Canadiens and Leafs 1-25 numbered runs which make up this 50-card set have long been the subject of speculation with many collectors convinced they were short printed. The only evidence of this however is a distinct lack of availability today as it appears no uncut sheets have yet to surface. Graded 4.5 VG-EX+ by SGC.

Here's the rookie card of Leafs great and all-time great HOFer, Dave Keon, from the 1961-62 Parkhurst set, graded Authentic with evidence of trimming. Dorner was a pitcher, and a bit wild apparently. He was usually up there in walks and hit batters, but did manage a 29-8 minor-league season in 1905, earning a big league contract for the following season. Alas, reality kicked in as the young hurler joined the futile Boston club of the National League who would go on to finish dead last at 49-102, 66.5 games behind the 116-win Chicago Cubs. Dorner would go 8-26 that year. He hung around the big leagues for a few more years, never winning more than he lost. This card shows him as a member of the minor league Kansas City club. Graded 3 VG by PSA.

Charles was a utility infielder who played 11 years of pro ball, including 237 games at the big league level. At least he hit a home run, exactly one, during his coffee date in the majors. This one grades 2.5 GD+ by SGC.

Lumley was a decent slugger during his 7-year big league career with Brooklyn. As a 23-year old rookie in 1904 he led the league in triples and home runs, but also strikeouts (in an era where contact was the order of the day). He also led the NL in slugging in 1906. Graded 3 VG by PSA.

McAleese was a minor leaguer who had a cup of coffee in the majors in 1909, the year this card was issued. He was a pitcher that actually played one game in 1904, giving up 3 runs in 3 innings of relief work. He would convert to the outfield the following year, and eventually got his shot in the big leagues as a 30-year old rookie. He played 85 games, hit .213, and rode off into obscurity immediately thereafter. Graded 3 VG (mk) by PSA.

Solid rookie card of Stasiuk, who went on to some productive campaigns with the Boston Bruins where he teamed up with Bronco Horvath and Johnny Bucyk on the "Uke Like" (due to all three players Ukrainian heritage). That line would become the first in NHL history to have all three players reach 20 goals on the season. Graded a sharp 4.5 VG-EX+ by SGC.

Excellent example of Reise's rookie card. When he made the NHL it was the first time on league history a father and son both suited up in the league as his father, Leo Sr., played for several seasons in the 1920s and 1930s. Leo Jr won two Stanley Cups with Detroit and made several all-star appearances. Graded a very presentable 5 EX by SGC.

Colwill had a brief pro career, which included 69 NHL games with the New York Rangers this season. He did have a few productive campaigns in the competitive minor WHL. This rookie card, his only issued hockey card, is graded a sharp 7 NM by SGC.

Eddie Litzenberger was a star. Not quite like the Howe's and Hull's, but he was rookie of the year, and scored consistently. He won a Stanley Cup with Chicago in 1961, then three more as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs (1962-63-64), then back-to-back AHL championships in 1965 and 1966. He's the only player in North American hockey history to win 6 straight pro championships. Graded 6 EX-NM by SGC.

Lord was a quality 3rd baseman who plied his trade during the Deadball Era, hitting better than .300 (not easy at this time) twice over his 9-year big league career. Graded 2 GD by PSA.

Karger was a pitcher who played 14 seasons of pro ball including 6 at the big league level. In 1907 he threw a 7-inning perfect game. Graded 2 GD by PSA.

Beck played 21 seasons of pro ball, including 5 years in the majors. He led the NL in HR in 1910. Strong visual appeal for the grade. Graded 1.5 FR by SGC.

This is the "seated" variation of "Turkey" Mike Donlin, who acquired the nickname because he apparently walked with a strut. Donlin was a star who couldn't resist the pull of fame and left the game early to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. One the Deadball Era's greatest characters! Graded 1 PR by PSA.

Laycoe played 11 years in the NHL, playing a tough style on the blueline, despite wearing glasses. He was the catalyst behind the infamous "Richard Riot" during the 1955 season. During a hotly contested game on March 13, Laycoe cut Richard with a high stick, and when the play ended Richard went after Laycoe with his stick, striking him several times. When the linesman intervened, Richard punched him, broke away, and continued his assault on Laycoe. Richard eventually knocked the linesman out, and was finally ushered off the ice. NHL president Clarence Campbell immediately suspended Richard for the remainder of the season. When Campbell showed up for the next Canadiens home game, he was booed, pelted with debris, and was even attacked and physically assaulted. The game was stopped among the chaos and the unruly crowd exited the building to thousands who had already gathered outside to protest the suspension. Things turned ugly fast and a full blown riot ensued with fires set, dozens of buildings looted, and thousands of angry Montrealer's on a violent rampage. The suspension came when Richard was leading the NHL in scoring and the Canadiens were battling Detroit for first place. Richard's suspension also cost him the 1955 scoring title, the closest he ever came to winning it. History in one card! This solid example is graded 6 EX-MT by PSA!

Rookie card of US-born Irwin, a hard-nosed defender who played 155 NHL games and over 450 more in the high minors. Graded a sharp 6 EX-MT by PSA.

Stunning example of this Black Hawks all-time great HOF goalie. Hall won Rookie of the Year, two Stanley Cups, played in 13 all-star games, made 7 first team AS squads (and 4 second teams), won three Vezina Trophies, and a Conn Smythe as the playoff MVP. He led the league in wins 4x, goals against 1x, save % 2x, shutouts 6x, and minutes played 7x. Oh, and he played an incredible 502 consecutive games in the net. So yeah, all-time great is accurate! Evans played pro hockey from 1948 to 1972, a remarkably long run. He played 754 games in the NHL and 675 in the old WHL, a high minor circuit. HE went on to coach over 600 games in the NHL as well. Graded 5 EX by SGC.

NY Rangers great and HOFer Andy Bathgate played 17 seasons in the NHL, as well as several more in the high minors. He was the Hart Trophy (MVP) winner in 1959 and WHL MVP in 1970. He made numerous all-star teams/games, and won championships in junior, the AHL, the WHL and a Stanley Cup. Graded 6 EX-NM by KSA.

"Terrible" Ted Lindsay was a star. He was among the league leaders in penalty minutes (#1 this season) every year, while also being named to the first team all-star squad (8x). He led the league in scoring in 1950 and assists twice. He played many years along side fellow HOFer's Gordie Howe and Sid Abel, the trio known as the "Production Line". One of the game's all-time greats. Graded 5 EX by KSA.

HOFer Duff was a solid performer who played from 1954 to 1972, playing a prominent role in six Stanley Cup championships (2x with Toronto and 4x with Montreal) along the way. Like the 57 Topps set, the 57 Parkies also seem to be less plentiful today than the company's previous release. Graded 4.5 VG-EX+ by SGC.

Marshall was one of the game's best two-way forwards and PK specialists while with the Canadiens in the 1950s. He and his linemates Phil Goyette and Claude Provost played important roles in their epic five consecutive Stanley Cup run of the late 1950s. He went on to several more offensively minded seasons with the New York Rangers, playing a total of 1,176 games in the NHL. This, his 2nd year card, is gaded a solid 5 EX by SGC.

HOFer Horton is one of vintage collecting's more popular players. He was a great defenseman, one of the best in the game during his time, and a tough-as-nails blueliner. He played a phenomenal 1,445 NHL games over 24 seasons, made several all-star teams and won four Stanley Cups with the Leafs. His popularity today may also be linked to his other legacy, as founder of one of Canada's most popular fast food chains that bears his name. Graded 4 VG-EX by KSA.

Nice mid-grade Armstrong, long-time Maple Leafs captain and HOFer. Armstrong played his entire 21-season career (1,188 games) with Toronto, winning four Stanley Cups in the process. He made several all-star squads, won numerous awards, and coached two Memorial Cup champions. Graded a solid mid-grade 4 VG-EX by SGC.

Habs defenseman Bob Turner broke in and immediately win five straight Stanley Cups with Montreal. Graded 6 EX-NM by SGC.

HOFer Ross was a tough and talented defenseman during the game's infancy, then went on to coach over 800 games in the NHL winning a pair of Stanley Cups with Boston. He was a player, coach and builder, and the trophy for winning the scoring race is named in his honor (although he was a defenseman). Graded a sharp 6.5 EX-NM+ by SGC.

High-grade "All-Time Great". HOFer Nighbor was an early star of the game, winning the first Hart Trophy as league MVP and the first Lady Byng Trophy as the player adjudged to have displayed the best combination of sportsmanship and performance. He was a prolific goal scorer for the times, scoring more than a goal a game in 6 times, including an amazing 41 in 19 games in the old NHA (precursor of the NHL) in 1917. Graded NM-MT 8 by KSA!

Juzda was a tough defenseman who played pro from 1940 to 1963, winning a pair of Stanley Cups with Toronto. He is best remembered for ending HOFer Toe Blake's playing career with a vicious body check that shattered Blake's ankle. This, his rookie card, is graded a solid VG-EX 4 by SGC.

Godfrey was a tough defender who played nearly 800 NHL games, mainly with Detroit. Graded a nice 4 VG-EX by SGC.

Scarcer high-number card featuring Red Berenson. Red was a star player who played junior at Flin Flon and college hockey at Michigan before turning pro with Montreal. He found his niche with St. Louis in expansion where he'd become a top line center, garnering Hart Trophy votes in 1969 and 1970. Upon retirement he moved behind the bench in St. Louis where he guided the Blues to 2nd, 1st (Jack Adams winner) and 3rd place finishes. In 1984 he accepted the head coach position with his alma mater Michigan Wolverines, where he'd remain until 2017. He won a pair of NCAA championships, made the Frozen Four 11x, set numerous records and won many awards. His 848 career wins place him 4th in all-time NCAA records. This tough high number card is graded VG-EX 4 by PSA.

Another scarce high number from the 64 Topps Tall Boys, this one featuring long time NHL, Ralph Backstrom. Backstrom, who was Rookie of the Year in 1959, won 6 Stanley Cups with Montreal, where he spent the majority of his 1,032-game NHL career. He then went on to coach college hockey at the University of Denver. Graded a nice 4 VG-EX by PSA.

Excellent mid-grade card of the Bruins Real Chevrefils, who played 387 NHL games, almost all with Boston, and many more in the minors. "Chevy" had a well known drinking problems throughout his career, which eventually led to his untimely demise at the age of 48. Graded 5 EX by SGC.

Nice mid-grade Dineen, who played from 1953 to 1958 (324 games) in the NHL, winning a pair of Stanley Cups with Detroit. He went on to play from 1958 to 1971 in the AHL and WHL, the two highest minor leagues. He went on to coach in the WHL, winning a championship in 1971, followed by 7 seasons in the WHA winning two Avco Cup championships, then 6 more seasons in the AHL with Detroit's top farm club in Adirondack, where he'd win yet another pair of league titles. Three of his sons, Gord, Peter and Kevin, all played in the NHL as well. Graded a nice 4 VG-EX by SGC!

This "dealer" lot contains 4 x 1974-75 Topps Bobby Orr cards. Two are graded 4.5 VG-EX+ by SGC, and two are graded 6.5 EX-NM+ by KSA. All are crease free with plenty of eye appeal.

Nice star lot, featuring card #36, HOFer Alex Delvecchio, and card #98, with rookie goaltender and future HOFer, Jacques Plante (a year before his actual rookie card issue), along with future HOF teammates Doug Harvey and Maurice Richard, and the Maple Leafs' Tod Sloan. Both cards are in superb condition but did not meet the "minimum" size requirements for a numerical grade. It is important to note these cards show no signs of alteration or trimming. They simply appear to have come off the sheets with a smaller cut size (by 1/16"), which was evident during the first four Parkhurst sets, albeit by 1954, with less frequency. It's somewhat frustrating that grading companies take this approach when factory quality control was so hit and miss in Parkhurst's early days. In any case a these are super clean and are authenticated and slabbed by SGC.
