Winchester High Wall action with custom heavy round barrel and fore end in .30-40 Govt. (Krag) with non-factory double set triggers, S/N 95281. The left rear of action hand stamped “Buick”. From 1940-60s there was a mechanic on Glassel St. in Orange that built single shot rifles using car axles and parts. He was a good machinist and had a rifling machine. His guns were brokered by Serven Gun Room and Sam Fowler. He was known to mark the, “Buick, Cadillac, Chevy, Ford, Etc.” The rifle shows a poor shop quality refinish and a crudely checkered fore end. 26” barrel of slightly heavy weight. Triggers work well and are adjustable. Lyman tang sight with blade front sight. No rear barrel sight. Original buttstock repaired at toe. About good overall. (C&R) Est.: $300-$600

18RD-1 COLT MDL 1911 WITH HISTORY
Colt Model 1911 U.S. Property marked "Black Army" .45 ACP cal., semi automatic pistol with history as belonging to John Hudson Poole. J.H. Poole graduated West Point in 1901. He served as a Captain assisting Chief of Engineers in the Philippines and as Disbursing Officer in Manila. Between 1905-1910 he served as aide to Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt and as Superintendent of State of War Department Building, Washington DC. He retired in 1910 and was active in Minnisota mining until 1917, when he was assigned to the staff of John "Black Jack" Pershing. He received many decorations and was discharged with the rank of Colonel. He married Caroline M. Boing and moved to Pasadena, CA. His son, John Hudson died in 1940. This exact pistol and accompanying artifacts were obtained by Robert O. McDearmon, noted antique collector and dealer from J. H. Poole Jr. in Newport Beach circa 1995 with a notarized affadavit. The Colt remains in almost fine original condition, with 95-98% original military finish, minimal aging. Grips are very good plus with minor staining, correct barrel, clip and small parts. With photo of this officer, and 1917 dated Perkins-Cambell holster. Also included is Poole's staff and field officer's sword by Springfield Armory in fine condition wtih his name etched on the blade. Colt 1878 Double Action revolver in .45 Colt caliber with a 7 ½” barrel, S/N 39148. This revolver has been refinished with ramp front sight added, and high quality diaond checkered Roper style grips added. There is a 200 number stamped below the grip pin and the same number stamped on the loading gate are as Colt marked single actions in this way. The escutcheon shows “pie crust” edge which is similar to Colt’s escutcheons. We have no information to support this is factory re-worked however the rebuild and grips are factory quality and pre-war in our opinion. 95% old blue refinish remains with good action, good bore and good grips showing slight wear. The stock is good with minor marks and small losses. 1 minute hair line crack about 2-3mm in length that is insignificant. Measures 14” to the end of the wood and 14 ¾” to the end of the pad. Winchester Model 12 16GA pump action shotgun with polychoke added, S/N 87271. Shows nickel steel and Model 1912 early barrel markings. The gun remains in good condition with 40%-60% original blue going dark and some minor erosion and slight pitting. The stocks have been cleaned lightly with steel wool but is at least good with a few slight imperfections. The original Winchester butt plate is broken at the toe with 1 large chip missing. Walther Model 9 Pre-War .25 caliber Semi-Auto pistol, S/N 79727. This exact pistol is listed on bring back document dated Dec 27, 1945. Our consignor’s father of same name captured from German officer at the end of WWII and it was re-nickeled when captured. Also an unusual buckle was obtained at the same time. The pistol shows old re-nickel of which 95% remains. Some minor pitting and erosion. Lettering is slightly weak. The grips are very good and the interior very good also. Walther marked re-nickeled mag. Buckle shows uncleaned patina and is a smaller size showing eagle, swastika and wreath. (U.S. soldier served Co. A 376 Inf.). Just as brought back 70+ years ago. Mauser Model 1871 bolt action rifle, approximately 11 mm caliber, Serial #74900. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 33” barrel. The barrel and receiver have gone to a uniform grey patina with some areas of light surface erosion noted. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with small mars and compressions. The rifle retains sling swivels and the cleaning rod is intact. The trigger guard is brass and the butt plate is smooth steel. The bore is fair, the action functions and the markings are legible. Tranquilizer dart rifle acquired from the San Diego Zoo. The rifle is approximately .50 caliber with a 21” barrel with significant surface rust. According to the consignor the rifle was acquired from a photographer at the famous San Diego Zoo where the rifle was used by staff. The rifle has no markings other than the number “215” on the underside of the aluminum action. The smooth wood stocks are in fair condition showing significant wear and use.
