Fine Art Print
Depicting modern nudes at spa by Enrico Baj 142/250, signed lower right corner. Image measures 28"x26" with single mat and black wood frame. Enrico Baj was the founder with Sergio Dangelo of the "Nuclear Art Movement" in Milan in 1951 and founder with Asger Jorn of an international movement for an imaginary Bauhaus in Albissola, Italy in 1953. In 1954 he was a contributor to numerous avant-garde magazines. Baj did his first collages and assemblages in Milan in 1956. He was associated with the Nouveau Realiste group in Milan. He traveled to New York, associating with Duchamp in 1962, Andre Breton in Paris in 1963, and Max Ernst in Paris from 1963 from 1966. His works are overflowing with highly stylized nude figures and animals - lions, camels, horses, goats - encrusted with a gaudy array of sequins, watch faces, military patches and braids, many of which Baj bought in bulk on his last trip to New York. These paintings turn their back on all notions of decorum and good taste, but that's something Baj has been doing for most of his career. But for all its vulgarity and kitsch, his work has a very serious theme: the population explosion. He further concentrated on multiple and editioned works of art in Milan, 1966.

He directed his own art gallery in Jamaica The Art Scene) before moving to the United States to live. His style is flexible, and ranges from sunny post-Impressionistic studies of balconies or windows opening onto the sea, to market scenes bustling with tropical activity, to landscapes and bold non-objective collages. All of his works share a bold approach to composition and sensitivity to color.Van-Pitterson has had 33 one man shows in Jamaica, Trinidad, West Germany, Canada and the United States, and has had numerous group shows around the world.

Original Oil on Canvas
Paul Mann artist, hand signed and dated 1982. Depicting two Indian warriors on rock in gold gilt frame. Image size 24"x19". Paul Mann is an artist who grew up loving the old West and continues his love of this time period by devoting himself to bringing the authentic wild west to his canvases. Mann has always been interested in art. Even as a young boy he knew that he loved creating pictures. Coming from a family that valued art, he found acceptance and support for his work. His father was a photojournalist and painted as a hobby, and his older brother is also an artist. As a high-school student, Mann gained recognition when he was presented the Award of Merit from the Society of Illustrators Show in New York City. Additionally, he was a participant in a summer workshop at Utah State University working with some of the top illustrators of the time. After attending Utah State University and serving a two year mission, he was faced with a difficult choice: return to Utah State to complete his degree or accept a job offer in the field of illustration. Mann chose to follow his avid interest in illustration. He says, "I love the Golden Age of Illustration, especially art produced during the 50's and the 60's. I have always felt the caliber of art and artist during this time period were the best in illustration such as artists like Tom Lovell, Frank McCarthy, Howard Terpning and Robert McGinnis. I studied their techniques and learned everything I could from them." Although he was engaged primarily in illustration field, he did show western paintings in several galleries where he gained a reputation for his art. In addition to doing extensive research into Indian life and lifestyles, Mann collected costumes and handmade clothing, adornments and implements. He worked from life with models that he discovered. Eventually, it was time for him to make another life-altering decision: continue to pursue a career in illustration or re-establish himself in the area of fine art, concentrating on western art and seeking new representation in galleries. This time, he chose to paint for the galleries. He feels that this is where he wants to be and should be at this point in his career. "I love the art of building a picture, the design, color and value. I love the use of drama and strong lighting with a great story. I continue to relish the research and making and collecting clothing from the 1800's."

Civil War Era Portable Men's Lap Desk & Felt
Jewelry Box. A wooden men's "Lap Desk" and decorative women's green felt jewelry box. The men's Lap Desk measures 11 1/2"x 8 1/4"x 6". There are not very many of these original American history 'collectibles' left in circulation. This one has an inside structural issue as it is designed to contain writing quills and ink, wax plugs, seals, etc., but that really does not matter. It is a genuine piece of Americana and history. The green felt women's ornate jewelry box is not just an old travel container, it has a faded floral stitching from the early 1800's and tarnished brass hardware of the time. This piece is a Victorian original with a small curved mirror on top of the box designed like an antique fan of the day. Together these two collectible Civil War era pieces will make and excellent addition to a curio or Civil War collection.

Schulps was from Orland, California and passed away in 2010 after operating Schulps' Pottery & Knives for 40 years. Schulps was a Master Potter and was also a talented knifemaker and all-around highly skilled craftsman. Articles on his passing mentioned that he played professional football for the Vikings and Giants in the 1960's, in addition to be a long-time high school and youth league coach. His knives have a very distinctive look and are easily recognizable. His knives were fairly pricey, although given the amount of work that went into them they were a relative bargain. Although he made standard style hunting and fighting knives as well, many of his designs had a unique fantasy style to them...very similar to Gil Hibben's style. He was also a talented scrimshawer and many of his larger knives showcase his work.
