Laurel wreath topped with star on a stake, Inside reads "Union Defender 1861-1865" with eagle and shield insignia. Back reads "Post 8 Brattleboro VT" White finish has worn away in several areas, shows rust and age. Measures 28"x8". Very interesting piece.

The buckle features a large piece of polished turquoise which is surrounded by leaves, cactus flowers, and nuggets of silver. A twisted rope design along with very intricate stamp work complete the look. It is not hallmarked in any way which is not uncommon for older Native American jewelry, but has been acid tested to be sterling silver. The buckle measures approx. 3 1/8" x 2 1/4" and weighs 72.2 grams.

9 Kingman turquoise nuggets-attributable to Gilbert Ortega? The gorgeous turquoise nuggets probably came from the Kingman Mine in Arizona. They form a circle or floral pattern. Each is set in a sawtooth bezel setting. Ring has a triple split shank. Written on the back of the ring when I acquired it was 'ORTEGA'. Since this came from an estate, it could be from one of his shops or the exact meaning. Also written is '$375' which must have been an asking price at one time. If this piece was in Gilbert Ortega's Scottsdale shop, it probably would be marked $375. Ring size is 8 1/4, it measures 1 3/4" long by 1 1/4" wide, and weighs 27.7 grams.

Approximately 40 Civil War lead bullets and projectiles. History has recorded that over 1000 different types of lead bullets were used for rifles and pistols during America's Civil War. The 'minie' ball, a lead hollow based bullet was the standard infantry bullet of the war and changed the face of warfare forever. The 'minies' would fit over 400 different types of guns and when shot from a rifle were accurate to about 1000 feet. During America's Civil War over half a million soldiers on both sides were wounded in combat which was a staggering one third of the men in both armies. Two hundred thousand others were killed fighting in the four year war. Ninety percent of those soldiers killed on the battlefields owed their fate to the rifles and 'minie' bullets.

Famous for his campaign through Georgia in the Civil War. Inset is a rare autograph by General Sherman, signed during the time he was Lieutenant General which was between 1866 and the time he succeeded General U.S. Grant as full General and Commander of the Army of United States of America in 1869. 1886 Rogers Brothers General Store, Benson, Ariz. Terr. assignment of customer debt with "filed May 10, 1886 W.L. Roche JP" handwritten on back. Roche was Cochise County Justice of the Peace, A.T. sworn in Oct. 18,1884. The Rogers Bros. sold the building on 4th St. in 1896, which was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, to the Hi Wo Company Grocery which operated there until 1989. As such it stands as a reminder of the Chinese population which came to Benson when the railroads were built. Nicely matted and framed, measures 10"x15".

Features a 33" round iron barrel, brass blade front sight, dovetail rear sight, brass barrel bands, threaded iron ram rod with brass tip, brass side plate & triggerguard marked "B", U.S. marked brass butt plate, brass patch box, sling swivels, older Springfield lock, iron hammer and a one piece walnut straight grip shoulder stock. Barrel is marked "US", "NWP" & "P" with the tang dated 1844. Lock is clearly marked "810" believed to be '1810' with the first number appearing to have been cut-off, also stamped with a primitive Springfield eagle holding a single arrow over 'Springfield' and a faintly visible "US". Lock appears to have been modified to accept the barrel which is on this rifle. Hammer has a slimmer profile that those typically seem on Springfield rifles. Barrel shows light/moderate pitting, lock shows dark spots around it's edges, brass shows little patina but is in very good condition and wood shows old repairs but is in good condition. The Order of United American Mechanics Jr. was an interesting political organizaqtion founded in about 1853 and peaked in membership about 1930 's. The organization was founded in Philadelphia and was originally called the Union of Workers. Its agenda was specifically aimed at subverting immigrant prosperity in America. It was essentially anti-immigrant, anti-catholic. It had links to the No Nothing party and the KKK in the 1920's. An interesting political artifact. Union Fork & Hoe made bayonet with 20-1/2" overall length and16" spear point blade which has been sharpened. There is also evidence of surface rust and pitting. Grips are bakelite and have shrunk a little. The scabbard has a few nicks and is scratched "Holt" on each side. There is surface rust discoloration to the metal trim and hanger.

Including a plugged barrel, sights, bipod, trigger assembly, piston, shoulder stock and many small parts.

Brass decorations with silver metal tassels with the number 33 on top. Backing is a red flannel. Overall good condition, shows minor losses to backing. In box, not original.

Incomplete double barreled, 2-trigger, hammerless, sideplate shotgun in blued and color case-hardened steel with 28-1/8" Armor Steel barrels and pistol grip butt stock but no forend iron or forend. The stock was cut once and then had the cut piece added back on with a white line spacer. Then another piece was added on with a white line recoil pad and spacer. The bluing shows edge wear, forend wear and surface rust speckling. The barrel is stamped, "Hunter Arms Co. Inc. M'F'R's Fulton, NY USA" and "L.C. Smith Field Grade". The bores are bright and shiny with some residue from firing. The receiver and side plates are color case-hardened with surface rust pitting and surface rust where the chambers met the breech face. Sheet of thin steel 20 'x28", outlining an Indian head, "drawn" by 30-30 Winchester rifles at machine gun speed. Dot & Ernie Lind were performance shooters employed by Winchester throughout the 1940's-50's who performed at military bases, shooting clubs and county fairs for over 30 years. This piece was done at the Duchess County NY Pistol Association on October 1, 1950. Across the top it is inscribed "To the Duchess City Pistol Association from Dot & Ernie Lind". Across the bottom-"Shot 10/1/50 with Winchester Rifles", it came from the estate of a past president of that association.

Blued, pump-action, takedown, tube magazine fed rifle with a 24" octagonal barrel, elevation adjustable rear sight and wood stock with crescent butt plate. This is missing the correct magazine tube, the pump handle and 2 screws from the upper tang which have been replaced with others. Bluing has some scratches, surface rust spots, dings and nicks to the barrel corners and edge wear. The bore is shiny with sharp rifling. The action works but with missing pump handle it doesn't work well. The stock has been sanded and is very small at the receiver tangs. The buttplate is proud of the butt. Well executed and decorative revolver stand. Features metal construction with various copper looking finishes including a steer skull, and marble base. A nice piece to show off any revolver. Condition is very good.

Possibly complete double-action once plated antique revolver with a 3-1/2" barrel. Plating remains on less than 20% of the pistol. Bore is pitted and rusted and the chambers are pitted also. Most of the parts bear evidence of previous rusting with pitting remaining.

Black plastic trigger guard has a few scuff marks. Wood stock has no chips or cracks but is worn with rubs and scuffs. Bluing has edge wear, is fading to grey, has surface rust freckling and shows rubbing wear from the pump action. There appears to be a magazine cutoff lever on the side of the receiver. The alloy trigger guard has slight edge wear. Bore is shiny with some rough spotting. Action works well.
