The exact issuer of the "Trocadero Paviljoens" value 100 brass token is currently unknown to numismatists but could have been issued for the 1914 Colonial Exhibition in Semarang, Dutch East Indies, or perhaps for the iconic Palais du Trocadéro which was constructed specifically for the 1878 Paris Exposition Universelle. For that fair, as well as the 1889 and 1900 fairs, the surrounding Trocadéro grounds were heavily utilized to host international, commercial, and colonial pavilions. More research is needed for this scarce token.

Driven by a severe shortage of silver, King Charles XII and his financial advisor, Baron Georg Heinrich von Görtz, authorized the mass minting of lightweight copper coins stamped with an artificial, high silver-daler denomination. In 1719, the state ordered that the coins be stripped of their artificial status. Their value was reduced down to just 1 Öre Kopparmynt (copper standard) or 1/2 Öre Silvermynt.

In the 5th year of Hoei (1708) the Hoeitsuho coin was cast at the Shichijo mint. This type was often called "ozeni" due to its large size. The people found it inconvenient to use, although they were informed that they would be punished for not using it. This was hardly surprising as the government issued the coin with a nominal value of ten mon, but its intrinsic value was only about three mon. This example came from a small group of higher than average quality examples, boldly cast with clear reverse incuse characters.

Sato to celebrate the completion of the Daido Life Insurance Company New Head Office Building; Daido Life Insurance Company logo stylized inside a traditional rising sun motif, trailing ivy leaves and vines winding around the right side, shinchiku kinen "New Building Construction Commemoration," Taisho juyonen gogatsu "May, 14th Year of the Taisho Era" below // detailed architectural relief of the former Daido Life Insurance Higobashi Head Office Building in Osaka, struck at the Osaka Mint, with mint hallmark on edge reading "Japan Mint Made", XF. The majestic Neo-Gothic style Daido Life Insurance Company building was originally designed by the prominent American-born architect William Merrell Vories. The original Daido Life Insurance building was demolished in 1990. A new structure was completed in 1993 for the Daido Life Insurance Head Office on the same site and was designed by Nikken Sekkei and Ichiryusha Vories Architects (descendants of Vories's architectural lineage). When the 1925 building was dismantled, developers carefully salvaged and preserved key Neo-Gothic architectural features including decorative terracotta carvings, the original decorative entrance lintel and facade framing and vaulted stained glass dome ceiling.

The 1920 Japan Census Medal was given to official census takers or those employed by the census bureau. The medal was instituted by Imperial Edict on June 17, 1921 to acknowledge those who participated and assisted in the first national Japanese census that began on October 1, 1920. The obverse shows the figure of an official of the Taika (Great Reform) era (AD 646) with a brush in his right hand, a rolled scroll in his left, standing before a table, all within a scalloped border representing the outline of a chrysanthemum crest. The reverse has the inscription ‘Taisho 9th Year / National Census / Commemorative Medal / 10th Month, 1st Day’ in Kanji.

JAPAN: Showa, 1926-1989, AE medal, 8th Meiji Shrine Games, year 10 (1935), 36mm, 23.87g, bronze participation medal for the 8th Meiji Shrine Games; a powerful, stylized muscular male athlete standing with arms crossed, with the iconic Meiji Jingu Gaien Stadium at left, while a windmill, mountains, and traditional stylized Japanese clouds decorate the right side, designers name at lower left // central stylized seal-script column reading Meidjijingu taiiku taikai (Meiji Shrine Games), Daihachikai (The 8th Iteration) at right, and Showa ju-nen (Showa 10th year) at left, with hanger as made, XF. The 8th Meiji Shrine Games which took place in Show 10 (1935). This lovely medal was designed by the noted Japanese sculptor Jiro Amamiya and was minted under the auspices of the structural art group Kozosha.

KOREA: Sejong, 1418-1450, AE mon (2.73g), H-10.3, cho son tong bo, orthodox script, cast from 1423-25, F-VF. Bronze coins were cast starting in 1423 during the reign of king Sejong the Great with the Joseon Tongbo legends. The Sejong era Joseon Tongbo cash coins were only issued in the years 1423 (Sejong 5), 1424 (Sejong 6), and 1425 (Sejong 7). The coins produced under Sejong were pegged to silver at 150 coins to one kun which is equal to 600 grams, though the actual market rates regularly fluctuated. But the monetary system proved to be unpopular as people resorted back to barter after a few years.
