Schmidt was a three-time 1st Team NHL All-Star who finished in the top-5 MVP voting five times, including his win in 1951 and a runner-up finish in 1947. He also played on a line with Bobby Bauer and Woody Dumart, which was originally called The Sauerkraut Line, then shortened to the Kraut Line. These three players were of German descent and all hailed from Berlin, Ontario, which changed its name to Kitchener after World War 1. The forwards finished 1-2-3 in scoring in 1940 and won two Stanley Cups (1939 and 1941). For obvious reasons, as World War 2 came on, they changed their name to the Kitchener Kids. Summer Slam #2

1953-54 Parkhurst #26 Doug Harvey (SGC 4.5)
On the Mt. Rushmore of all-time great defenseman in NHL history. Harvey cards are arguably undervalued, particularly when you see the prices for early Tim Horton cards. Head to head, there is no comparison, although Horton cards carry the greater price tag. Harvey was a 10-time 1st Team All-Star selection (Horton 3x), 7-time Norris Trophy winner (Horton 0x), 5-time top-5 voting for MVP (Horton 0x), and a 6-time Stanley Cup winner (Horton 4x). He also ended up with 540 points over 19 seasons (1,113 games), more points in less games than Horton (518) who played 24 seasons (1,445 games). By every metric, Harvey is the superior player. Maybe if he opened a restaurant, his cards would get the same level of respect as Horton (some suggest Harvey's drinking may also play into the discount, but who really takes that into account when making a card purchase?). In any case, this the third card for this top-shelf HOFer, graded a sharp 4.5 VG-EX+ by SGC with perfect centering and great eye appeal.
1953-54 Parkhurst #56 Andy Bathgate RC (SGC 4)
Mid-grade rookie card of HOFer, Andy Bathgate, league MVP (1959), leading scorer (1962), 2-time NHL assists leader, Stanley Cup champion, AHL champion, and 2-time WHL champion. Graded a clean 4 VG-EX by SGC.
1953-54 Parkhurst #75 Gus Bodnar (SGC 5)
Bodnar won Rookie of the Year (Calder Trophy) in 1944, and in his NHL debut, he scored a goal just 15 seconds into his first shift — at the time, it was the fastest goal by a player in their first NHL game. He would win a pair of Stanley Cups in 1945 and 1947 with Toronto, and scored 400 pts over 667 games during his 13-year career. After retiring as a player, Bodnar went into coaching and worked with junior hockey teams, including coaching the Toronto Marlboros to a Memorial Cup championship in 1967. Graded 5 EX by SGC.
1953-54 Parkhurst #85 Dave Creighton (SGC 5)
Creighton was a solid two-way center who played from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. He played over 600 NHL games (and more in the high minors) contributing both offensively and defensively during a time when the league only had six teams (the "Original Six" era). After his time in the NHL, Creighton continued to play and later coached in the AHL. His son, Adam Creighton, also played in the NHL. Graded 5 EX by SGC.

He also appeared in the movie “Youngblood” (1986) alongside Rob Lowe, playing the father of Lowe’s character. Graded 6 EX-NM by KSA.

After his playing days he became the first head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers history (1967–1969). He then became GM in 1969 and built the Broad Street Bullies, the team that won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 1974 and 1975. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992 as a Builder. 1955-56 Parkhurst #25 Gordie Drillon OTG (PSA 6)
HOFer Drillon had a brief but successful NHL career, leading the league in scoring in 1938 while being named to the NHL First All-Star Team twice. He finished on the top-5 voting for the Lady Byng five times, winning it in 1938 and finishing as the runner-up three times. He won a Stanley Cup with the Leafs in 1942, and at the age of 29 he joined the RCAF during World War II, never to play in the NHL again. Interestingly, Drillon was one of the early players to use what would now be recognized as a "screening" style of play—parking himself in front of the opposing goaltender to redirect shots and block the goalie’s view. This style became influential in the evolution of offensive strategies in hockey. After the war, he worked as a scout for the Maple Leafs and was also active in coaching and development. Graded a very clean 6 EX-MT by PSA!
1955-56 Parkhurst #29 Teeder Kennedy OTG (SGC 4)
Leafs' legend and all-time great HOFer, Kennedy played his entire NHL career with Toronto, becoming one of the most respected and iconic figures in franchise history. He was known for his leadership, toughness, and clutch performances, especially during the playoffs (10 of his 29 playoff goals were game winners). He won five Stanley Cups with the Leafs (1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951) and was Captain from 1948 to 1955. He won the Hart Trophy (NHL MVP) in 1955, the first Toronto Maple Leaf to do so. Graded a solid 4 VG-EX by SGC.
1955-56 Parkhurst #49 Tom Johnson (SGC 6)
Johnson was a HOF defenseman who won a Norris Trophy, was a 7-time all-star game participant, a 2-time post-season All-Star, and a 6-time Stanley Cup winner. He was a important piece of the Canadiens great dynasty of the late 1950s. Graded a sharp 6 EX-NM by SGC.
1955-56 Parkhurst #62 Babe Siebert OTG (SGC 5.5)
HOFer Siebert was known for his toughness, versatility, and strong two-way play in the NHL during the 1920s and 1930s. Originally a left winger, he later transitioned to defense, where he became even more highly regarded. He was league MVP in 1937, with the Montreal Canadiens, one of the few to do so as a defenseman. He won two Stanley Cups, and was named to the NHL First All-Star Team three times and Second Team once. Tragically, in 1939, Siebert was named head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, but drowned in Lake Huron while swimming, just weeks before the season started. His sudden death at the age of 35 deeply affected the hockey community and a benefit game was held to support his family. Graded a clean 5.5 EX+ by SGC.

Summer Slam #2

1957-58 Parkhurst #T10 Sid Smith (CGC 6)
Smith was a star who played in seven all-star games, was a 2-time 2nd Team All-Star and a 1st Team selection (1955), and was a 6-time top-5 consideration for the Lady Byng, which he won outright twice. He spent all of his 12 NHL seasons with Toronto where he won three Stanley Cups. This clean example is from the 1957-58 Parkhurst set, which next to the 1955 issue, shows the lowest graded population of all Parkie sets. Graded 6 EX-NM by CGC.
1957-58 Parkhurst #T15 Billy Harris (PSA 8)
Harris was known as a reliable two-way forward, not a flashy scorer but very consistent and dependable. He was often part of checking lines that helped shut down opposing top scorers, contributing heavily to team success even if not leading in points. He won three Stanley Cups in the early 1960s as a member of the Maple Leafs. Graded a sharp 8 NM-MT by PSA, with only three graded higher.
1957-58 Topps #31 Hec Lalande RC (CGC 5.5)
Rookie card for Lalande, who played 151 games in the NHL, primarily with the Chicago Black Hawks and briefly with the Detroit Red Wings, between 1954 and 1958. A December 1957 trade sent him from Chicago to Detroit; after 12 games and only two assists with the Red Wings, he was traded to the Hershey Bears of the AHL.
